Just in case any users out there have a laptop like mine or similar, I decided to post info about my Linux laptop so they can be assured that blowing away Windows isn’t a bad move.

I finally got the builtin wifi card working on my laptop. Apparently all it took was a kernel update for things to work properly.
I used the fwcutter method found here. Good stuff.

Yesterday I took the plunge and installed the Feisty Beta of Ubuntu on the laptop. It was a long, slow process — I installed via “update-manager -d” rather than from CD. What follows is a short analysis and rumination on the ordeal.

Google reader for the suck

I would totally use Google Reader to manage and follow my RSS subscriptions, but it consistently refuses to update from the following:
del.iciou.us
ma.gnolia.com
any wordpress-based site
Sometimes it shows updates on the left-hand side for Ars Technica, but even when that happens it doesn’t update the right-hand pane list of articles.
