So, I almost had my face melted off, a couple days ago.

Left my car’s lights on and killed the battery. A buddy from work was willing to jump for me.

So, we hook everything up, and I get in my car to try starting it. Buddy says, “Dude!” I get out and see that, lo and behold, both batteries are smoking!

Keep this in mind the next time you jump a car’s battery: do not look at the color of the wire coming off the terminal when you hook up the jumper cables, look at the actual terminal symbol, + or -.

It is only by the grace of God that I didn’t:

1. Screw up one or both cars’ electrical systems
2. Suffer serious chemical burns to my face

I’d hooked the positive lead up to the negative terminal on my battery. It still gives me the willies thinking about it.
