Some kind of nuclear attack or something

April 30th, 2004 · No Comments

Last night at around 2AM I was sleeping, though slowly winding my way up towards waking. Having a dream about driving I think… Hard to remember exactly, but the last image I recall right before waking up was this Festiva smashing into the corner of a bridge with a loud BOOM. This woke me up because there was, in fact, a very loud boom in the waking world - so loud that my car alarm was going off and the keyfob pager thing was buzzing and beeping like mad.

Not sure what this was exactly. It was overcast and drizzly, so it could’ve been thunder. No lightning going on to indicate that this is just a thunderstorm, however. I walked outside and didn’t see the gas station across the street in flames, or any car wrecks or anything. Only thing I can think of is an airburst nuclear detonation, but you’d think the EMP would disable my alarm. So I dunno.

Weird.

I find it interesting that environmental sounds when you’re sleeping can instantaneously incorporate themselves in your dreams. I mean, there’s no lag. It’s like, the cat jumps onto your face and without pause or any sudden jerk in the dream stream it’s smoothly incoporated as a hair monster making out with you.

And to all the people who saw me walking around outside at two in the morning in my pajama pants with tousled hair, you’re welcome.
