Checked out the venue a week ago — getting excited about the decor and worried about being able to feed people… We counted response cards today and got 68 confirmed people. We’ll probably have a little over a hundred, if everyone else we think will come actually comes.

N had a shower, yesterday. That was fun for her.

Been awhile since I’ve posted, let alone posted a cat picture.

In other news, I’m getting kind of buff. Between the 100 Pushups and going to the gym (or at least walking every night) I’ve started to get ‘cut’, as the kids say.

The wedding is less that 2 months away.

Went to the Ren Faire in Kenosha with N, again. Again, it was very fun.

Got to go in actual costuming, this time! Makes it so much better, let me tell you… It was really awesome to get into the spirit of things with garb and all, and it was really cool that a couple people actually recognized and asked if my sword was a Heron Mark sword.

Way cool.

I am beat now, however.

There’s an engrish one, the Dorothy pic of N., Mike Little Pony… All sorts of people are suddenly discovering and favoriting my photos, and I don’t know why.

Just thought this looked cool.

In other news: I ordered my Vibram FiveFingers shoes directly from Vibram. Not sure if I’ll actually receive them or not.

1) They are very hard to get, frequently selling out
2) The web form does inventory tracking somehow, to prevent selling size/color combinations that are out of stock (you can’t add it to your cart if it’s out)
3) I tried to add an item to my cart, but found it was out of stock
4) However, the identical piece I added to my cart yesterday was purchasable today

This means either they reserved one for me, which is bad for all the other people who wanted to buy one between yesterday and today — and what happens if I never came back to buy it?
OR, they don’t check inventory at checkout time.

Either way, that’s sort of crappy software design.

Saw this at a coffee shop in South Bend. Sorry it’s blurry, my cameraphone doesn’t do the macro so well.

At the bottom (and out of the picture) it says, “I am vegetarian, though you don’t have to be.” This actually translates to, “I am a vegetarian and will judge you for not being one.”


Seriously, who reads that note and thinks, “Damn, I’ve got 4 out of 6 of those requirements. If only I were mature and open-minded!”

It is not surprising that she is a female art student.

Made this for my fiancée for Valentine’s Day, since she liked the other goddess I created so much.

It’s a little more creepy than the other one, but more because it’s enigmatic than anything really horrifying. I find sea-based totems to be that way, actually.

Maybe it’s because the ocean is still sort of the last unknown. You don’t expect horrible manticores wandering the land, but it’s plausible that the ocean will barf up some crazy monstrosity like this.

You have to watch out for this. Rancor monsters are notorious for thier hatred of all Barbies.

Saw this on the way back from Tennessee, in a Kentucky gas station. Kind of a bizarre conglomeration of stuff for sale, together.

Bottom shelf had toy tractors and doo-dads. Next shelf up had scented gel things and tchotskys. The next shelf up had beer cozies and tiny flasks. The next shelf up had cologne and perfume. And the top shelf had fake, scented, plastic flowers and condoms.

I believe this display is somehow supposed to represent man’s journey through life.

Lastly, there’s a field outside the house with several patches of weeds in it. In the morning, the rising sun causes the frost to go pearlescent and sparkled. The sight is rather pretty.

I really dislike the bitter cold of Indiana winters, but I really love the beauty of ice and snow.

We put up the Christmas tree, last night. I haven’t decorated a tree in probably five years. It was lots of fun.

N and I took about an hour of video of us doing this, for posterity. I’d imagine it will be one of those things that we’ll watch in 20 years and just fast-forward through.

Been awhile. This is a Tachikoma my girlfriend got me on our first anniversary. It’s way rad.

Also, notice how my camera is dying? The picture looks as if it’s a print photo from the 70s or something.

That’s kind of cool, I guess.

The Autumn colors were exceptionally brilliant, today.

I love fall.

I kind of wish it would snow a little so I can utilize the snow tires I’ve had since last winter, but I’m also enjoying the vividly colored leaves and reasonably mild temperature.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving and Black Friday and time with the family.

Went as a zombie, this year. It was way fun to mess around with makeup and latex and such.

I got several complements for the makeup job I did, which was nice. Two people suggested I do theatrical makeup for New World Arts, a local theater company. Not sure if I’d be wiling to commit to that, or if I necessarily have the skills to do a decent job.

Still, it was fun.

Also, been playing an online game called “Travian” a lot. It’s sort of like Civ + Sim City over the web, but with a much larger timeframe. Essentially you have a bunch of resource fields surrounding your village, such as iron and crops. You use these resources to upgrade the other resources (and use crops to maintain them, sort of like currency) as well as build new village buildings. Eventually your village is large enough for you to build troops to go conquer other players’ villages.

What’s cool is there’s a time lag involved. Upgrading a single item can take from 3 minutes to 15 minutes to an hour (this can be reduced by building and upgrading other things). So basically you can log in after you wake up, upgrade something, then check it around noon and upgrade some more stuff, then again later on. It’s not like you have to sit and micromanage for hours at a time. Kind of cool.

N, her mom, brother and I went to the Fort Wayne Zoo, yesterday. It was way fun. I took a lot of photos, but unfortunately most of them didn’t turn out.

After taking close to 10,000 pictures, my Canon A80 is finally on its last legs It has developed a reddish bar at the top, and is having difficulty figuring out lighting.

I lost some photos I really would have liked to have, such as a shot of one gibbon doing a proctological exam on another, and two other monkeys apparently doing something much steamier.

Animals are funny.

I have a buttload of pictures on Flickr. A few days ago I went through and added all the ones I particularly like to a set. Check it out.

I’m not saying they’re good, just that I like them best.
