I finally watched Primer, last night. I’m still thinking about it, but I think I like it.

There’s a lot going on in that film… I’d read about it and seen forum posts so I sort of knew I was in for a lot of confusion, but as I was watching it I was thinking, “Well this isn’t so bad.”

Then at the last 3/4 of the film, I realized that it was actually really messed up and I hadn’t really known what was going on. Everything was suddenly reframed and it threw me for a loop.

I recommend seeing it, but only if you’re prepared to sit around thinking about it afterward. I’d liken it to Donnie Darko or Pi in terms of feel, if that helps any.

Also, the first 10 or 15 minutes are sort of hard to follow, because the dialog is really snappy and half-finished. Just wade through it — it isn’t representative of the rest of the film.
